Connection problems with VPN and RTC Eclipse Client

Andrés Guerrero (20613218) | asked Oct 14 '09, 6:05 a.m.
Hi all,

We are experiencing connectivity problems (Failed to contact the repository) with RTC 2.0.0.1 Eclipse client through VPN (Cisco Client). No problem with browser connectivity.

Is there any special VPN configuration need for Eclipse RTC client?
Any common mistake on this configuration?

Regards

Andres

Nobody had this problem?

mmm... again the syndrome of "we are a special case" ...

JAZZ DEVELOPER
Hey Andres,
VPN connection failure can have multiple causes.. here is what I recommend

1) look at the VPN we use in IBM, check if this applies to you too
http://jazz.net/library/techtip/317
2) check with your collegues - maybe a simple tweak will work
3) check the Firewall or any software that would cause the Web to work fine and not the VPN
4) trace the VPN client (is there a response time issue ?)
5) does it happen with all servers (is there a server that handles it better ?)
6) is there any router or wireless in the client network (my VPN fails with my home wireless, not at work)
7) any info in the client log (.log) or the server (jazz.log) that mentions HTTPS or any error just before it fails ?
8) when it fails does the VPN fails only for RTC or all applications ? (is it a network global hickupsor an application specific) ?

I know this is a lot of question. We are trying to narrow down the issue as much as we can :)
