How can I import a reqIF file on top of a previous import without overwriting modified data?

 Use Case: 

1. Customer delivers an export (reqIF) from their DOORS Classic DB. 
2. The reqIF is imported.
3. Modify artifact types to meet our current implementation in DNG (e.g. change generic imported artifacts to specific DNG artifact types - GENERIC to Heading for example) and additional artifact types to sub-divide the data)
4. New drop from the Customer
5. Import the new ReqIF - but do NOT modify the Artifact Types

How can this be accomplished?
