Migrate projects from Telelogic DOORS 9.1 to DOORS NG 605

We currently have Telelogic DOORS 9.1 (C&S) and wanted to migrate the data to DOORS NG 605. Currently we are following the below approach.

1. Migrate the DOORS 9.1 data to IBM Rational DOORS 9.6
2. Create migration packages for each projects (.migiz)
3. Import the migration package to DOORS NG 605

Since this is a lengthy process and we have some hundreds of projects in DOORS 9.1, what would be the time efficient approach to achieve this?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Aljo George

 Hi Aljo,

Do your projects in DOORS 9.1 have links between modules?  If not, then another idea is to just export to Excel from DOORS 9.1.  Set up DNG projects with the same Attributes/Attribute Type Lists, create empty Modules in DNG, then populate the modules by importing the Excel worksheets.  The import process works really well as long as all of the attributes you're importing match what you've set up on the DNG side.  You do have to rename the 'main' column from the DOORS export to Name and you must add the Artifact Type to each row (in our case, the Artifact Type was the same for all).

We had one Project where we had to migrate due to the links between modules.  But on another project, there were no links so we took the Excel/Import route, and it was much faster with less steps.

For our migration, we had 14 modules and it took us about 6 hours to do the migration, which included creating the .migiz files and doing some cleanup on the Views that migrated.

Good luck!
