When I allocate more than 24GB JVM on WebSphere Application server 8.5.5.10, it fails to start. WAS is installed on Windows 2012 R2 server which has 64GB physical RAM.
Without any details, it is hard to say what might go wrong. I suggest you remove the Windows service (if exists) and start WebSphere from the command prompt, then you should see the message why the JVM fails to start.
