Are there any attributes or properties set on the CC Activity when an Activity is linked to a work item or is this link specifically on the RTC side of things?

We would like to know if it is possible to create triggers to prevent the delivery of activities that are not linked to RTC Work Items (similar to capabilities with the CQ CC Integration)

All information is currently maintained on the RTC side for the CC bridge. It is possible to write a query to find the work items that have CC activities and post-process the output to find the activity references (I don't know how fast that would be, though), but there isn't currently a way to query from the CC side.
