Eclipse Client - Automatic Login

Kevin Zemanek (2454825) | asked Sep 17 '09, 5:31 p.m.
In RTC 1.x eclipse client, if I select the "Automatically log in" checkbox
on the user login panel, if my connection to the server becomes invalid for
some reason (VPN went down, went into standby mode, etc), when I try to
access a work item or any RTC item, a dialog would pop-up prompting me to
log in. That doesn't work in RTC 2.0 eclipse client, it simply shows an
error about not being logged in and I have to manually select the "Login"
option. Known bug?

Same problem with Eclipse Oxygen 4.7.3 and RTC Jazz plugin version 6.0.4.

When I login to VPN then start Eclipse, RTC logs in automatically.
When I start Eclipse to work offline, RTC times out with an error message.
There is no login button that I can find? I have to exit Eclipse and restart once the VPN is back up.

Eclipse sure has a lot of perspective and views. RTC Jazz uses the Work Items perspective or you can add each view tab to your current perspective (Java, Photran PTP, etc)
The VPN connection is so slow I turned on the Metronome.
I also turned on the Show Heap Status under Windows > Preferences
Giving Eclipse more memory in eclipse.ini seems to help a little.
Microsoft Outlook has an offline/online mode this should too. The VPN that makes RTC Jazz work turns off access to Outlook so I spend the day going back and forth so much for an Agile Scrum software development team spread across different time zones, offices, and companies.
