The story points remaining chart considers the "state group" of the story's states.
All (process-specific) states fall into the "Open", "In Progress" or "Closed"

For example, the state "New" belongs to the "Open" state group, and the state "Invalid" belongs to the "Closed" state group.
Story Points Remaining considers all stories whose states are in either the "Open" or "In Progress" state groups.
