CLM 6.0.2 Monitoring and Maintenance

Hi all,

I have CLM version 6.0.2 (JTS, QM, DCC, LQE, RS) and DB2 database installed on same server. The number of concurrent users is 3, but this number will shortly increase to 5.

Usually, the server performance is good, but sometimes the server memory usage increases a lot and the CLM server does not respond (or the response time is extremely high). The server must be restarted to be operational again. I am not totally sure, but it seems that the memory usage increase is due to DB2 database. Could it be the problem? How can we monitor the server in order to know the source of the problem? Would it be possible to monitor the resources to let us know (via mail, alert…) when something is not right?

Nowadays, I am not running any maintenance tasks on the database. Does DB2 database require any maintenance task? If yes, which ones? I have never work with DB2 databases before, so I would really appreciate a detailed response.

Thanks in advance,

Leire.

It's more likely to be a conflict between the DCC, LQE and the other applications. Due to the restructuring of DCC and LQE IBM recommend that they be installed into separate, dedicated server instances. This is because they have been designed to allocate as many system resources (memory, CPU, I/O etc.) as they need to complete their tasks in as short a time as possible. This conflicts with the processing models of the CCM,QM, RM etc. applications and these conflicts can lead to deadlocks.

Thanks for the quick response Alan. We will try to do what you say. Anyway, do you know if DB2 databases require any maintenance tasks? And what about monitoring tools?
