Restrict access to a report designed with BIRT

Dmitry A. Lesin (24826096) | asked Nov 09 '16, 5:45 a.m.
Hello!
We developed a report for Rational Quaity Manager v4.0.7 with BIRT and deployed it to Jazz. It works perfect but requires a lot of resources and time to be executed. Is a way to restrict access to that report in Jazz? Another word, we would like to permit it for predefined users only.
Thank you very much for help!

Hi Dmitry,

The procedure to restrict the access to a specific report is not easy, but it's not impossible either.  You may want to try these steps on a test server before making changes to the production environment.

1- Create a new Team Area
2- For all roles in that new Team Area (i.e. Everyone and the roles inherited from the Project area), make sure the permission to 'Display report' is marked as 'Revoked'
3- Create a new role inside this new Team Area and make sure the permission to 'Display report' for that role is 'Granted'
4- Add the users that will have permission to display the report as members of the new Team Area.  Assign the new role to those users.
5- Go to Reports->Report Resources
6- Look for the Report Resource that corresponds to the report you want to restrict
7- Edit the Report Resource.  On the Project/Team Area section, select the Team Area you just created
8- Verify that only the selected users can run the report.  All other users can see it, display the parameters, but can't run it.

The procedure has several steps and you may want to try it first on a test server.  I hope this helps.

Thank you,
Clara Forero
