Error generating team invitations

Steve Viens (61185) | asked Jul 09 '09, 5:36 p.m.
I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure it out. I'm logged into the web UI as an administrator. I can create a Project Area, assign Admin's and Users to it. When I click "Save" I'm prompted to send invitations out to the new members of the team (just added). I click "Finish" on the invitation dialog and I see the following message:

Error generating team invitations.

'Generate Team Invitation' failed. Permission denied.

Anyone else seen this? What am I doing wrong? As I mentioned above, I'm logged in as a Jazz Administrator. I'm using RTC 2.0 Ent. Edition on RHEL 5.

Thx,
Steve

You might check that your user has a developer CAL assigned as well.

Another tip is to try the same thing in the eclipse client. It typically gives you better error messages.

You need to have the right permissions granted in order to generate team
invitations. Look for the "Generate Team Invitation" operation under the
Process category within the Team Configuration section of the permissions
editor (either in the web ui or the Eclipse client).

Make sure the permission to generate a team invitation is granted to one
of the roles you are assigned (or to everyone).

I had a little trouble finding the right place to fix this problem - so in case anyone else is searching...

From the WEB UI as an Admin

In Project Area Management click on
the name of your project and then
click on Permissions and then click on Team to see Roles
and then you will see check boxes
under Permitted Actions:
Process -> Generate Team Invitation -> Generate a team invitation

yes it worked thanks a lot bob..

Actually I had not created a team, so couldn;t see the team option earlier.
After creating a Team, click on the Team>>
then Click on Roles and create a new role lets say role1
then Click on permissions,>> under that again click on permissions. then a dashboard will open at the bottom, so scroll down
and then select ur role1 and give it the required permissions.
