RTC Clearcase Synchronization fails after moving the Synchronization to another project area.

 Dear Experts,

We are working on importing Clearcase source code into RTC. In RTC we have all the component of the Project Area A is owned by Project Area B. So we trying as a experiment how it will works on different scenarios.

We created the Sync Stream in Project Area B and imported a stream to the Project Area B. Later we change the owner of the Stream to Project Area A and Sync workitem for checkins was moved to Project Area A as well,
whereas components are still owned by Project Area B.

Now the Synchronization fails with error message " the template workitem must reside in the same project area as the synchronization stream" though in this case both are same.

After that we just moved the workitem to Project Area B itself and ran the Sync and it got succeeded.

I am bit confused here, how the CC tools works. As mentioned the error the Synchronization Stream's project area and workitems project both are not same and it works, but the vice versa doesnot work.

Is this ownership is actually for stream or components?

Thanks
Anbu

Could you post a copy of the stack trace?   (You might have to post it as an answer, and then modify that answer to be a comment).

 Hi Geoff,

I think we have found out something.

The error occurs when both workitem and the synchronization stream are in same project area because the workitem was from a different Project Area where the template is different.

When both the Project Area A and Project Area B has same Process Templates the Synchronization works fine regardless of which Project Area it is owned by.

Could you please give me any suggestions on moving the workitem from one project area to another which has different Process Templates and also the Synchronizaion stream for CC RTC Synchronizations?

Thanks
Anbu
