RTC 2.0 - empty project area plan?

Mike Johnson (28624221) | asked Jul 07 '09, 3:06 p.m.
I have recently installed 2.0 for evaluation. I created my project, a couple of team areas, and a couple of iterations. I created a work item and set it planned for I1 (the first iteration).

Now I am playing with the "plans" capability. I create a new plan, set it for "project area", and select I1 for the iteration. When I go to "Planned Items," it says there are 0 closed and 0 open. This seems wrong to me, since I planned at least two items for I1. So then I click on the "0 open" which then opens the query in the "Work Items" view. I click the pencil (for "Edit Current Query") and then see the query used to generate the (empty) list of open items for the iteration. This looks almost right -- it has "Planned for is I1" in one box, "Status is unresolved" in another box, but the "filed against" looks wrong. It has nothing checked, but it does say "1 value selected." If I simply delete that box (or even simpler, check and then uncheck one of the items), the query runs fine.

If I check "Show Invisible" and "Show Archived," nothing changes.

Does anyone know what is causing this bogus entry in the query?

I have a screenshot of the query builder I'd like to post with this to show what I am describing -- is there any way to simply "upload" an attachment without having to resort to a file host?

Thanks in advance,
Mike Johnson

Mike, what plan type are you using. Note, that depending on the plan
type some work items might not show up on the plan. See

Johannes,

I am using the Simple Team Process. The link you pointed me to makes sense, but for the Scrum process. For the Simple Team Process, there don't appear to be any work item types that would fit the "Plan Items" (vs. "Execution Items") as described in that link -- for STP, there's only defect, task, and enhancement types.

My plan type: "Iteration Plan"
Team Members: "Project Area"
Timeline: "Development"
Iteration: "I1"

Thanks,
Mike

Ok. In that case could you pls check you category team area
associations. To do so, open the Project Area editor and select the Work
Item Categories tab. Make sure the associate the categories (that is the
Field Against field) with the team area/project area the plan is
configured for.
