Sharing across Project Areas in same RTC respository?

If I have two Project Areas that have some potential overlap or shared resources/work items, is there an advantage to having both Project Areas reside in the same RTC repository?

I am not using RTC build or source code features--just user stories, tasks, iteration planning.

Thanks for any advice.
