Jazz Team Server startup with Run as Administrator on Vista
On Vista, Jazz Team Server was installed as "administrator" to c:\Program Files(X86)\IBM\JazzTeamServer.
If I am logged in as "Administrator", I can double click on the "server.startup.bat" or the Start Programs icon for "Start Jazz Team Server" and the server starts OK.
If, however, I'm logged in as a member of the Administrators group, and right click on either "server.startup.bat" or "Start Jazz Team Server", the server does not start (a quick window flash).
I can open a command prompt (as administrator) and run server.startup.bat OK - but it seems like the other should work also, right? Am I missing something obvious?

One answer
check the logs for the reason why the server didnt start. by default, double-clicking a windows batch file will launch it in its own command window and will exit immediately after it has been called especially if it launches a separate process. compare the execution of a script containing
@echo off
anotherscript.bat
anotherscript2.bat
anotherscript3.bat
with
@echo off
call anotherscript.bat
call anotherscript2.bat
call anotherscript3.bat
there are parameters to keep the window open but it might be possible that when the script spawns off another process, the original command window then shuts off and brings down the spawned process with it. the logs may provide more clues on how far the server startup process was able to go.
ciao!
