Empty report template

Gilad Saadoun (3661) | asked Oct 25 '07, 7:46 a.m.
On M2:
In some projects when I open a report template I see that all the fields are empty and I cant set the variable value. What may cause this problem?

I read that the reports are based on snapshots that create once a day. Is it relevant to the problem? (I have this problem several days). Where can I find more details about how to create and add more snapshots to the data warehouse?

On M3:
I installed the M3 version (client, server and incubator) and now the report folder is empty. I can only open a new folder (I cant open a new report definition).

I'm also getting the same behavior for M2 and now M3.

When I open a report (e.g. Work Items by Type), the list boxes that should
show the Team Area, Category and Iteration parameters are empty. In
another post it was suggested that this may be related to the fact that it
takes the DWH 24h to roll up information, however in M2 I've waited more
than 24h and nothing happened. For M3 I'll wait today and see what happens.

Is there anyway to bypass the 24h constraint and invoke the DWH ETL
component explicitly?

Thanks, Avi

Hi,

On M2: Does this happen for all projects, or only for some projects? The
collection of data should be automatic - you shouldn't need to configure
it for each project area.

On M3: Did you migrate to M3 or create a new project area? We made a
number of changes to the way reports are set up and presented in M3; I
recommend you read the New and Noteworthy for M3:

https://jazz.net/downloads/DownloadDocument.jsp?href=milestones/data/0.6M3/jazz-news-0.6M3.html

As well as the Reports section of the getting started guide:

If you are still having problems, please open a work item in the Reports
category and we'll help you track down the problem.

Hi Avi,

Sure, attached is an HTML file that will poke the snapshot service to
update the data. Some caveats:
1. Edit the file first to indicate the server/port of your jazz server.
2. The SCM snapshot will fail, but the others will succeed. This is
related to the fact that it needs to run as ADMIN - we're working on
impersonation support that will allow this to work as well. (For your
report you don't care about the SCM snapshot anyway).
3. After we solve the impersonation issues, we will make this sort of
function available somewhere in the UI.

Hope this helps.

Manage Data WarehouseHi James,
It did update the DWH both in M2 and M3. Btw, I noticed that in M3 this operation is available in the UI when logged as ADMIN.

Thanks for the tip.
Avi.
