RQM Web: We Keep being redirected to the Administration page

Adil Chahid (45524118) | asked Apr 12 '09, 7:25 p.m.
Hi all,
we did have a lot of problems dealing with the RQM Installation.
We were able to run RQM in Application in IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1 under Linux after some struggle.

One problem remains now:
When we click on the default Quality Manager project or on a newly created project or on the home page, the browser is always redirected to the Administration page i.e:
https://SERVER_HOST:9443/rqm/admin instead of https://SERVER_HOST:9443/rqm/web/projects/<PROJECT_NAME>;

We have to mention that it's installed in our lab next to another jazz instance (RTC) that runs under another IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1 profile.

Here's the only output that is produced in all the logs (tail -f *) when that weird behavior occurs:

Thanks,

This problem is almost always caused by improper setup of the JVM args
RQM requires within WebSphere AppServer, and specifically its the stack
size JVM arg (-Xss768k) that causes this problem. Ensure that this
parameter has been setup as prescribed by our Infocenter here >
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rqmhelp/v1r0m0/topic/com.ibm.rational.test.qm.install.doc/topics/t_instl_config_rqm_was.html.
See step #8 in the 'Configuring WebSphere Application Server' section
for the proper JVM args. Also, if you've hit the redirect problem and
you identify its due to the stack size JVM arg not being properly set,
you'll need to remove the jazz temp directory in the temp directory
within the profile
(<WAS>/profiles/<PROFILE_NAME>/<SERVER_NAME>/temp/jazz_war).

So, to fix this try the following:

1. Update the JVM arg as specified in the Infocenter (See link above).
2. Shut down your WAS server.
3. Delete the temp directory (see location above).
4. Restart WAS.

Hope this helps.

Hello Michael,
Thanks for your reply!
We did try stopping was and removing the jazz_war folder under WAS_PROFILE_NAME/WAS_NODE/WAS_SERVER/
We had previously the entry -Xss768k defined as a generic argument for our JVM.

We did restart the Application Server and here's what happened:
- We accessed the application and it did allowed us to land on the home page
(http://<server_name>/rqm/web

- But once we clicked on one of the two defined Projects (in the Project Area) it did redirect us to
(http://<server_name>/rqm/admin
.
- So now Home redirects us directly to /rqm/admin
And in Project Area when we click on one of our defined projects it redirects us to the Work Item tab.

Is this the required behaviour? Specially the Home link that redirects to /rqm/admin.
If not, what should we excpect to get there?

thanks,

Ah, I didn't read your description carefully enough. You have a much
simpler problem with a much simpler solution. The URL you're using to
access RQM (http://<server_name>/rqm/web) is not the correct one. The
proper URL for RQM is https://<host>:<port>/jazz/web/console.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the input: it worked fine.
The fact to clear the WebSphere Temp folder did also help for the behaviour of the site.

Thanks for all,
