While changing the status of failed case to Pass, can we retain the history(of failed instance)

We are using RQM 4.0.4 and we have a few failed cases in test plan in X build with defect associated. Now in Y build the defect is fixed and we want to Pass that case ..Can we do this by preserving old history(i.e of failed instance)?
One solution we thought is to create new TER and pass that case..but in test plan reports failed cases still be depicted (even if its passed later) and TER count will be more than test case count in that plan..So is there any other way to handle this like in same TER history will be preserved?

You can rerun the same TER.  The last execution result will appear in the report and the Previous Result Details section in the TER editor will contain the list of execution results.
