Why is Team > Show History Disabled?

Any thoughts on what might cause Team > Show History to be disabled on all files in the Package Explorer view, or when they are open in an editor?  This just started happening today.  Would it be a server-side issue?

 The answer is that RTC thought the component was disconnected.  I have no idea why that was so...
