Would you please handle spam this way?
We are sneaking up on a spam filtering solution, really. The gears grind slowly sometimes and we're almost there. Part of the delay was making sure we had something we could use across many IBM properties that would provide consistent behavior and the best possible results.
Like any filter, there's a danger it will let some things through that it shouldn't and reject some things that it should. Personally, I'd prefer to let some spam through rather than reject any valid question -- and this is where we need your help...
Some of you (thanks!) have been flagging spam for deletion -- but you have also been deleting the message contents. I realize you are trying to thwart the spammers but we need the message contents so that we can train the spam filter. So please don't remove the content.
What you can and should do if you are willing is to use the report feature to identify it as spam:
And then you can retag or edit and insert spam as a tag. This will make the spam status visible to others so that they don't bother clicking on it. It will also make it easier for us to gather spam for training the filter.
Thanks in advance for your help...Millard

FORUM ADMINISTRATOR / JAZZ DEVELOPER Apr 03 '14, 3:44 p.m.No worries, we will still delete the message thread (and ban the user) and it will disappear from the forum display but this will leave the content intact so that we can deal with the filter training.
