What is the recommended or best way to install BIRT for RTC 4.0.6
Hello,
I have been trying to install BIRT for some time now, and it's still tricky at best.
The RTC 4.0.6 online help page "Installing BIRT tools" says :
- Download and extract the following files to a temporary folder:
- DTP 1.8.2: dtp_1.8.2.zip
- EMF 2.6.2: emf-runtime-2.9.2.zip
- GEF 3.6.2: GEF-runtime-3.9.1.zip
- WTP 3.2.3: wtp-R-3.2.3-20110217214612.zip
- BIRT 2.6.2: birt-report-framework-2_6_2.zip
Unfortunately :
1/ the versions listed and file names do not match (EMF : 2.6.2 or 2.9.2 ? Same for GEF)
2/ these versions are not consistent either with the ones listed on the BIRT 2.6.2 page whose link is given (EMF 2.6.1 instead of 2.6.2).
So, who is right ?

I don't know if the inforcenter is correct or not.
But in my RTC 4.0.4 Eclipse client (also based on Eclipse 3.6.2, which is same as RTC 4.0.6) I installed EMF 2.6.2 and GEF 3.6.2.
You can also install BIRT and dependencies from Helios Update Site http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios.

Hello,
Thanks for your answer, I will try the Helios update site.
It would be convenient to have up-to-date documentation; I have seen several posts on the web which emphasize that you need a specific version of BIRT, sio I tried to stick to what is written.
Well, helios update does install BIRT, but no perspective shows up.
Same problem already reported on this forum (question 146677).
:-((
Well, applying the online help instructions, but with the DTP EMF etc. versions listed on the BIRT 2.6.2 page seems to work. Not yet fully tested, though.
This is a scenario which I usually do:
1. Install Eclipse helios with BIRT embedded from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/helios/sr2
2. Use following technote to install required additional plug-ins: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21502374
3. Install RTC client using P2 installer.
It always works for me.
Let me know whether you have any problems with that order.

Hello,
thank you for answering.
As I wrote above, I managed to get one install to work, I will test it further and will try your method if needed.
I was curious about item # 2, but could not open the link, even when logged in at IBM. Does it work for you ?
Hi Yannick,
Try this one: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21634690
