RRDI Reports for Requirements Management by Team Area

Benjamin Gaskins (122) | asked Mar 31 '14, 11:51 a.m.

Hello,

I have enabled the use of Team Areas within RRC as a Project Area contains multiple Teams which has there own requirements that need to be secured (unedited) by other Project Teams.  Think of a RRC Project Area at a Program Level, and Team Areas as the Projects within the Program.

Now, I am facing a challenge, I want to be able to report on the Team Areas Requirements which are reference to Folders via Team Ownership.  The simple solution would probably be to add an attribute on each Requirement Type called, "Project" in which the users would manually need to associate the artifact to the Project.

However, since we are using Team Areas, seems like I should be able to get a report that way.  I checked and Team Areas is no where to be found in RRC for reporting.  If someone knows, please let me know.  So I started thinking and wanted to know if I could use RRDI to pull this type of report.

So the report would be All the Artifacts (stored in folders) assigned to a specific Team Area (through Team Ownership).  Is this possible?  Thanks in advance for your reply!

Hi Benjamin,

The RRC reportable REST API does not return team ownership information.  It does however return the folder name.  You could either use the built in RRDG feature to generate a document style report against an RRC view filtering by artifacts in a particular folder, or you can use IBM Rational Insight to customize the ETL such that the associated folder name gets loaded in to the DW so that you can create a Cognos report that filters by folder.

Using Insight to do this is probably overkill, as you would need to customize the RRC XML Configuration file (to expose the folder), the data warehouse (to store the folder name), the ETL (to load the folder name to the DW) and the reporting data model (to allow users to use the folder in a report), but thought I'd add it here since it is an option.

There is already an enhancement for the ability to filter within RM for team ownership (Allow Team Ownership to be displayed as a column (65862)), but I'd suggest creating an enhancement request for incorporating team ownership information in to the "out of the box" ETL and data model for RRC.

Hope it helps,
