Why cant I see the defect workitem under the respective category while viewing in Operation Behaviour?

 I already have the defect workitem created with a particular workflow. I am able to set the Required Attributes under Operation Behavior.
Later, I created a new workflow and re-associated the defect workitem with the new workflow. Now, I am not able to see defect under the category it is was visible under earlier.
Now I cannot set the mandatory fields for the new statuses in the new workflow. Please let me know why this is happening.
