CLM migration from 3.0.1.2 to 4.0.5

Hi,

We are planning to migrate and upgrade CLM from 3.0.1.2 to 4.0.5.

But Topology is going to change from CLM 3.0.x to 4.0.x. Here in CLM 3.0.x, we are using 2 servers (one is application server, other one is as DB server). But in CLM 4.0, there might be more servers (as per suggested by IBM).

In this case, what would be the working process for migration and upgradation activities.

Thanks,

Vijay Kumar

 Hello,
as you worded it, you're facing 2 operations: upgrade and migrate (to other servers)
For safety reasons, I would perform the 2 operations one after the other.

1 - upgrade
See https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/CLM2012UpgradeGuide
Once upgrade completed, perform any verification to ensure upgrade is successful.

2 - migrate
I would start here - https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/DeploymentInstallingUpgradingAndMigrating
(Migrating and evolving section)

Hope it helps.

Hi Vijay,
The answer really depends on current configuration of your topology and what you mean by more servers. Are you planning to add more e.g. ccm servers.

Anyway I would suggest you doing that in two steps:
1. Upgrade to 4.0.5
2. Change topology

Please clarify how you are planning to change your topology.
If you want to have separate server for each application, after upgrading to 4.0.5 you need to install each application on the server you are planning to use and follow the steps from http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v4r0m5/topic/com.ibm.jazz.install.doc/topics/c_techniques_changing_topology.html

Let us know if that helps.
