Oracle database setting for Rational buildforge

Abuzaid Shaikh (89146) | asked Dec 26 '13, 5:16 a.m.
We already have a Oracle database server installed on the production environment.
We are going to install Build Forge v8.0 for the first time on our network.
We have created a Schema on the database.
while installing the Build forge:

Can we give the database name of the server which other application also use?

or

Is it mandatory to create a new database on the server to install build forge.

If you already have a 8.0 schema on a database somewhere it is not necessary to create another one if you are installing the console again or somewhere else.  During the setup you will be prompted to configure the database connection information, so configure that to point to the existing database, but there is another option to populate the database at install time.  Deselect that, as it will fail the condition against your already existing schema.  It will then generate the buildforge.conf to point to the database, however it will skip all the integrity checking in the setup.  So it will be up to you make sure that everything in the schema is good to go for 8.0.
