Adding comments to RM artifacts via REST API

My goal is to find a way to create comments to RM artifacts via some REST API. I have spent a rather long time to gather enough information on this topic. My conclusions are as following.
1) The only way to change RM items and their attributes through the REST API is to use the one provided by OSLC community.
2) The current OSLC Requirements Management Specification doesn't provide any functionality to retrieve / store artifact comments.
