Share Defects w/ HP Quality Center
Hi,
Is there any planned support for allowing defect data to be shared between HP Quality Center and Rational Team Concert? If IBM isn't do anything is an IBM business partner doing anything? Thanks, Donald |

Hi, Hi Donald Today, you could use the CQ connector and then use HP's QC-CQ integration to share data. Going directly to HPQC from RTC would require HP to build something (it may be worth asking HP about this). anthony |
There is also an existing enhancement request for this here.

I too have received this request from a customer. I searched the HP website and found nothing.
Does anyone have some sample code they could post? I don't have access to Quality Center or I'd try it myself... Thanks, Gary |
I too have received this request from a customer. I searched the HP website and found nothing. No example code, but the API manual for HPQC 9.2 is available on the HP web site http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/manuals Be aware, that on Windows (properly patched) you can't see the contents of a .chm file. If you trust the source of your download, you can change the .chm file properties and select Unblock to view the contents. This Unblock action is a potential security risk. I suspect you would need a copy of HPQC before you could run any code... anthony |
BSD Group an IBM Business partner now has this integration certified Ready for Rational.
Here's the link to BSD's website: http://www.bsdgroup.com/qcrtc.php This is a bi-directional sync of QC Defects with RTC Workitems/Defects. There isn't a lot of content on the website but more is on the way. |
Hi Donald, Gary
So you have three options: 1- Use the BSD solution 2- Use the HP Quality Center Synchronizer Adapter SPI that you can download (jar files ready to use) from the same location as the HP Quality Center Synchronizer and develop your own solution. 3- or you can use ClearQuest in the middle between RTC and QCentre. You will be using HP Quality Center Synchronizer to connect HPQC to CQuest and RTC CQ connector to connect RTC to CQuest. In all cases, you need to make some decisions up front based on the option you pick. Example: HPQC does not dictate defect rules transition, you can change defects from any state to any state. Question: will you be willing to have the same behaviour in RTC and sacrifice all WI workflows? (actually you will allow all workflow transitions). Each project is different and each RTC Project Process Template is different, regardless of the option, you will have to do some customisation to synchronisation rules (create Mandatory and recommanded fields on all sides with their properties etc.), HPQC Multiprojects/Subjects mapping to multiprojects in RTC etc. This is a starting point if you need to do this synchronisation. If you have specific question, please feel free to post. Hamid |
Is there any new development on this topic?
What's the best solution to integrate RTC and QC today? Thanks Jirong |
Is there any new development on this topic? Hi Jirong, BSD Group has both a synchronizer and an OSLC Compliant bridge. They synchronizer allows bi-directional synch of records, while the Bridge allows you to link records, use a delegated user interface, and rich hoover between the two system. The choice between the two depends a lot on your customer environment. Thanks, Matt |
Hi Jirong,
Another option for integration of RTC and QC is Tasktop Sync. Tasktop Sync provides bi-directional synchronization between WorkItems in Rational Team Concert and those in third party systems such as HP Quality Center, Microsoft TFS, Bugzilla, StarTeam, JIRA and others. Check it out at http://tasktop.com/sync. Cheers, -Rob -- Robert Elves Tasktop Developer, http://tasktop.com/ Mylyn Committer, http://eclipse.org/mylyn |
