Is there a provision from RTC to configure viewlets->roles like the way it is supported for operations->roles?

In terms of directly mapping a viewlet to a role, no, we would like anyone to be able to add any viewlet if they really want to. But we do plan to select templates based on roles in order to provide appropriate default dashboards on first visit.

Yes, that would surely help. At the moment, this customization support is only for generic contributor and not for the individual custom role. Is that correct?

Correct - right now you can only have separate templates for projects, teams, and contributors.
