Can an RTC file have a custom attribute

I need a way to associate a file as a type "business record".  I know this can be done in RAM.  Can it be done in RTC?

Yes, it is called a "property".   But it is considered part of the version-controlled state of the file, so changing the property value requires checking in a new version of the file.  The ability to change the property value without creating a new version is requested in work item Provide modifiable properties on a versionable state (220897) .
