Could not initialize component sync context

I am getting this error when trying to load a workspace:

Could not initialize component sync context
Workspace name="XXXXX" not found; most likely a reference to a deleted workspace

This is the same problem as I mentioned in the earlier post https://jazz.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3233 but I have tracked the problem down further. I did delete the workspace without unloading it first. How do I recover from this?
