Hi,

I'm not sure if there is an official IBM course, but we do have a workshop that can be downloaded at:

https://jazz.net/learn/LearnItem.jsp?href=content/docs/workshop/index.html

Hope this helps.

If you just want to get started using Rational Team Concert, you can
find a couple of good tutorials in the help, included with the product
or online:

There are IBM training courses on the way for Rational Team Concert. RS800: Essentials of IBM Rational Team Concert, V2.0 is expected to be available by the end of July. A follow-up course, tentatively titled Mastering Project Administration in IBM Rational Team Concert, V2.0 should be released in early Q4.

These courses will initially be available for open enrollment and private deliveries in both ILT (traditional classroom) and ILO (instructor-led online) format. Self-paced "virtual classroom" delivery models are also being explored.

I'll be posting IBM's Learning Development Plans for RTC in the "Using Team Concert" forum periodically.

Jim,

I'd like to learn more about these courses - I'm in the training unit of an IBM Business Partner - and I have client already asking for this - how can I become more closely informed about these efforts (perhaps even help out)?

Kevin -

Do you work with the IBM Business Transformation Outsourcing (BTO) team to deliver IBM training, or does your firm develop and deliver your own training courses?

RS800 is available and there are courses scheduled across the US for open enrollment. You can learn more at: http://www-304.ibm.com/jct03001c/services/learning/ites.wss/us/en?pageType=course_description&courseCode=RS800

As I mentioned previously, I'll be posting IBM's Learning Development Plans for RTC in the "Using Team Concert" forum periodically -- you can keep up with what's new by following this thread: https://jazz.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5394

Jim,
Yes, we do participate in the BTO - we're an ATP and AITP partner.

Thanks for the link - I'll follow up with the Rational Service Offerings Manager.

Thanks for the pointers - I'll keep a watch on that thread.

Any other pointers? Can I help you in any way?

Open enrollment means that anyone can enroll! Visit http://www-304.ibm.com/jct03001c/services/learning/ites.wss/us/en?pageType=course_description&courseCode=RS800 and click on the "View schedule and enroll" link. There are currently courses scheduled in Raleigh, NC on November 5 and in Chicago, IL on December 10. Each of those offerings has an "Enroll" link next to it where you can sign up for the class.

This sounds like a great opportunity. Which would be a better option? An ILT or an ILO?

Depends on your learning preference and budget. ILO and ILT courses cover the exact same material and both offer hands-on lab exercises.

ILT is Instructor-Led Training in a traditional classroom. Open enrollment classes are scheduled periodically in worldwide locations. With ILT, you get face-to-face interaction with the instructor and peers in the classroom. The downside is that you will likely incur travel and living expenses to attend the class if it is not in your hometown.

ILO is Instructor-Led Online delivery. The course is taught live via a fully interactive web conference. You are given access to a hosted lab environment where you can remotely login to complete lab assignments. The instructor has the capability to "shadow" your lab session, so if you run into trouble or have questions you still get live interaction with the instructor. There is no travel required -- you can participate in ILO training from your home/office as long as you have high speed internet access.

Schedules for open enrollment courses are available on the IBM Rational Training website: http://www-304.ibm.com/jct03001c/services/learning/ites.wss/us/en?pageType=page&c=a0000337
