Error importing from Bugzilla "Unexpected content....&q

I am attempting to import bugs from Bugzilla v3.0.4 into RTC 1.0.1, and get the error:
"Unexpected content, please check Bugzilla URL and authentication."

The URL (e.g., http://puncher/bugs"), and authentication information are all fine (I can tell that I am being authenticated correctly since if I deliberately give an incorrect password I get a specific error that is clear.

I've tried single bug, and range of bugs.
I've tried custom mapping (my eventual aim) and default
I've tried saving as XML

and the import always fails with this error.

The error log doesn't give me any detail to go on. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions!

Thanks.
Simon.

A colleague using RTC installed into an existing Eclipse environment rather than as a standalone installation, using the same ID and bugzilla site is able to do the import without error.
