New installation: WAS, DB2, RDDI on same server?
Hi, A sanity check before we start to install: we are planning a new installation of the RM application for a limited number of users (typically 3, max 5 simultaneous) for an upgrade from DOORS to DOORS NG. Having performed a trial installation and examined a lot of documentation I have selected WebSphere (we want to use RDDI and Tomcat does not support that) and DB2. As the number of users will be low I plan to install WAS and DB2 and RDDI on the same server - I can't see anything in the documentation that will prevent this but the examples show all three on separate servers. As recommended we will take care with the URI so that we can expand the system later if needed - probably use a URI routed through our DNS. Can anyone see a problem with this approach or have any specific recommendations before we start? Thanks, Ali |

Hi Alastair, I have done similar setup multiple times and I haven't encountered any major issues. The only thing I need to care is probably the server resources. For just few users, I suppose quad-core processor and 16gigs of RAM should work fine for you considering you don't have huge volume of data but the more the resources the more better.
