RTC 1.0.1 with Eclipse 3.4 on Mac

J.P. Pellet (51143) | asked Dec 03 '08, 8:56 a.m.
Hi,

I need to use RTC in Eclipse 3.4. I found the following help on how to do this for Windows: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&context=SSCP65&dc=DB560&dc=DB520&uid=swg21319530&loc=en_US&cs=UTF-8&lang=en&rss=ct3488rational. The problem is that several of us are using Macs, and AFAIK there is no IBM Installation Manager for the Mac, so we can't follow the advice from that TechNote.

Does someone know what the installation manager does exctaly when it installs RTC on top of an existing Eclipse, so that I can reproduce it manually on the Mac? What is the correct and clean way of putting the RTC plugins into an existing Eclipse 3.4 installation, or what is the complete list of plugins not provided by the normal Eclipse that RTC needs?

TIA,
J.-P.

I am using RTC with Eclipse 3.4 on Mac OS X. Here's what I did:

1) Get and extract the regular RTC 1.0.1 Mac Client Download from jazz.net
2) Get and extract the latest 3.4.2 maintenance build (I wouldn't
recommend 3.4.1 because of
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=245667)
3) Remove p2 from the 3.4.2 build (using the instructions in
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox_p2_Removal)
4) Replace the directories
jazz/client/eclipse/plugins with the eclipse/plugins directory from
3.4.2
jazz/client/eclipse/features with the eclipse/features directory from
3.4.2

5) Start TeamConcert.app and you should have a working RTC 1.0.1 on
Eclipse 3.4

Hope this helps

I have been running Eclipse 3.4.1 with Team Concert 1.0.1 for a while now. I am trying to remember what I did however I did not have to remove the P2 component from the Eclipse Build. You can find additional information here:

Very helpful, thanks. This seems to work fine on my machine (removing p2). I haven't tried keeping p2.

Cheers,
