can we use Installation manager to update the embedded websphere in Rational Asset manager?
We use the installation manager to install RAM7512 and the embedded websphere application server, can we use the installation manger to update the embedded websphere application server to a newer fix pack level? The installation manager does not seem to recognize the existence of the embedded websphere, that means we will need to use the update installer to update the embedded websphere.? When we uninstall RAM 7512 using installation manager, the embedded websphere application server will be uninstalled as well, however, will installation manager recognize the newer fixpack level installed by update installer? In the past, installation manager will not recognize any updates done by update installer. Any comments are appreciated Thanks for your help. The two methods of install cannot be mixed.

Thanks.
IM does not recognize the embedded WAS, need to use update installer but then this may post some potential issues when we uninstall using Installation Manager. |
I have confirmed with RAM install team, It is not recommended that user update the eWAS themselves via update installer. This is not a supported scenario. If you are updating the eWAS via update installer, you will be doing at your own risk. |

Hi - I suspect the first thing to check is what Installation Manager thinks is installed. If you are on Windows, then the Installation Manager folder from the Start menu should have a "View Installed Packages" entry - try running that and see if the embedded WAS is listed along with RAM. If it is - then you should be able to use the Update function. If not, then you probably need to update WAS separately.
