When making a resource allocation on a plan with dates associated to the timeline (iteration) - if I leave blank the resource allocation start and end date (only input a percentage) does the resource allocation calculation assume the resource is required within the timeline dates? or does it default to any time frame (infinite)?

Don't know the "answer", but I have seen that setting specific dates on contributor work assignments can lead to inconsistent presentation of progress in plans views.  I think leaving as percentage ought to be sufficient for most cases.

The latter ... i.e. the dates on the timeline have no affect on the resource allocation.
