Why does Change Summary come up now when I double click on a change set in RTC 4.0.1?

We just migrated from RTC 3.0.1.3 to RTC 4.0.1.  In RTC 3.0.1.3, if I clicked on a change set on the links tab of a work item, Change Explorer came up and I could click on the part and it would bring up my external compare tool.

Now, in RTC 4.0.1, clicking on the same change set brings up the Change Summary view and clicking on the part there brings up the internal compare editor.

Why did this change?  Is there a way to configure it so it works as before?

This is a bug in 4.0.1 where the preference isn't respected.

It's been fixed for 4.0.3 M2.

Thanks for your quick answer.  Is there any way to get this fix put into 4.0.1?  My users noticed it two days after the migration and are not going to be happy.

You'll have to contact IBM support to request a hotfix since 4.0.3 is the latest successor in development.

I'm going to hazard a guess that you previously had an external compare tool configured and now you do not.

I was unaware of the defect Tim mentions below but I'll leave the answer in case it's useful for someone else.
