olsc Rest API - filed against: can't use the category name to enter the value into a new work item

We are trying to create a new work item using the Rest API and are only able to send the id of the filed against value to create a new work item.  Is there a way to send the category name through the API?  is there any other option for to resolve the name into the ID?
