How to maintain the order or sequence for the values of a multi-valued attribute?

Hi,

I have a requirement to define a multi-valued attribute in RAM (which can easily be done via configuration).  However, the values of that attribute should be in a specific order or sequence.  Can it be done via configuration alone?  I tried and it appears the multiple values form a set without any ordering.

If the requirement cannot be met via configuration alone, can it be achieved via a custom policy?

thanks

The answer is yes and no.

When creating the attribute, you would create it as Type Text, with Preset values. In that case you can create the text values and have the values ordered as you wish (using the up/down arrows all of the way on the right).

Then when in edit mode on an asset the values will displayed in the current order of the attribute as defined above. When the asset is saved with several values you selected they will then be displayed in that order until the next time the asset is updated. The order for that is frozen at this time until the next update. Even if the attribute definition (as in the paragraph above) is changed such that the order of the values are changed the asset display will not be changed. The order in the asset itself is determined at the time of the save of asset update.

The next time the asset is edited, the order will reset to be the order from the current definition of the attribute.
