how best to change Owner based on Work Item state change?

We'd like to automate part of our work flow by having the owner field updated on certain workflow transitions.

Our thought is to have multiple custom fields that can be filled in during the life-cycle of the work item and use those values during subsequent transitions but I don't see anything out of the box that would provide that functionality.

So my questions are: Have I've missed some out-of-the-box configuration option? If not, is a plug-in the best/only way to provide this functionality? And if so, does anyone have a sample/example to jump start us?

Thanks in advance

I don't know if this can be done in 2.0.

In 3.0 we created a calculated value provider that will change the owner field on a save action based on the state and filed against field values.

Sorry I can't help more. If you move to 3.0 I can show you more what we did.

Doesn't the code that implements the Implied Properties precondition have to do this sort of processing? (this is all theory for me so far...I haven't DL'd anything to actually poke around and see what's possible with plug-ins)

Hi Michael,
We are interested in implementing this. We are using RTC Version: 3.0.1.1. Would you please share how to implement this?

Thank you in advance.
