Multilingual Support

Jeffrey Cameron (4166) | asked Jul 18 '08, 3:37 p.m.
Hi,

I was wondering when the Jazz team would be putting support for externalized strings int Jazz and making the user interface available in other languages.

I work for the federal government in Canada and we have an obligation to provide users of our products with bilingual interfaces in English and French.

Jazz is a great product and we are very interested in it at my agency (Statistics Canada) but until the interface is provided in both official languages we are cool to investing in it.

If someone could let us know when that will become available it would greatly aid us in our decision to purchase.

I have opened an enhancement request for a multilingual interface: https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Project#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=59144

You can track progress on this here:

That work item was extracted from the 1.0.1 plan here:

Thank you Robert,

I have subscribed to this work item and anxiously await the translation effort. Delivery around October sounds good!

JAZZ DEVELOPER
Delivery around October sounds good!

Sorry to disappoint you Jeffrey but there has been no commitment to my
knowledge to deliver the translated version by October.

The first line in the description of
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Project#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=58893
states:
By 1.0.1 we need to be ready to get the translation work for both Eclipse
and Web started.

Hrm,

That is disappointing :( If the strings are externalized by then we
could translate it ourselves though, yes?
