RESOLVED: Can a task have multiple owners?

We got a question and I wanted to post the question and answer here in case others new to RTC had the same question. "Is it possible to assign a task (work item) to two or more people?"

The answer is "no." Work items can only have a single named entry in the "Owned by" field. This is true no matter what type of work item is involved. The rationale is that who the "owner" is should be very clear.

As a side note, it is possible to add a custom attribute of type "Contributor" to allow additional people to be able to query "secondary ownership". You can even have a list of those "owners".

Otherwise the statement is correct and it does not make sense to have several people to have the primary ownership. All experience leads to the conclusion it only leads to confusion, who really is responsible. So nobody really feels responsible at all.
