Need to change Public URI via /jts/setup URL

Motoharu Funahashi (4845) | asked Sep 08 '11, 5:22 a.m.
In case of disaster, RTC repository has to be restored onto the back up zOS system of which IP address is different from the system backed up. So after restoring the repository, we need to change a public URI and/or JDBC data source location, jts server hostname. Unfortunately, our production RTC system has a different hostname from a back up system.

On our test system, I changed a public URI via /jts/setup URL and also made changes to the extended properties of ccm for jts server address. When WAS is restarted, old ip address is still used. On setup panels, there is a warning that a public URI is not changed once setup is finalized. Could you tell if there is a way or circumvention to make a necessary change?

I assume you use RTC 3.0.x

Once the URI is set it is strongly discouraged to change it as it appears that all references to it in the repository are not updated accordingly.

A work around: Set up a DNS using the old address and point it to the new server

The requirement is that we would like to restore RTC repository where RTC is running with the different hostname and/or IP address. The production RTC system and the cold stanby RTC one has a different hostname or IP address each other. How can we do with this environment. Can you point someone who is working for the disaster recovery?

You are going to have a problem with different host names. In 3.x - the references to the hostname are embedded into the data, and so you need to have the hostname the same.

Most people use a DNS entry to switch between servers, or use a http proxy server in front of the systems.

There is some useful content on the help file that explains all this - have a look there and ask more questions if that does not help.

You might also want to post to the Using Team Concert forum, this one is about extending the software.
