How is relevance calculated in search result sets?

Hi.
I need to know how relevance is calculated.
Is it possible to give a field more weight in relevance calculation (boost factor)? For example I'd want to give more relevance to hits in description field that hits in other fields.
Thanks,

Hi

There are four factors that determine the relevance of search results.
1) Do the fields defined in the asset match your search text
2) The popularity of the asset (more popular assets are more relevant)
3) The last modified date of the asset (recently modified assets are more relevant)
4) The version of the asset (more recent versions of the asset are more relevant)

You can view/modify the boost values for various fields from the 'Search Relevance Configuration' page.

You can also control the influence that an asset's popularity, modification date, and version have on relevance. Note that this is not a supported page because these are advanced settings not intended for modification by most users, but there's a 'Restore Default Values' button on the page if you want to return to the original relevancy rules.
