Need a server download I can install on AIX

Bryan Hunt (4463213) | asked May 17 '08, 11:02 a.m.
We are running the Jazz server on AIX. With M6a, it was easy enough to
download the server and get it running. Now, there's a nice, small,
installer, but not for AIX. I don't really want to download the Linux
DVD with 1 GIG of unnecessary gorp to try to get this working. Can I
please get the old style build of the server?

I believe you can download the Smaller Express-C version without the
Installer under the "All Downloads" Section.

Here's what I'm currently doing:

On my Linux workstation, download the Linux installer.
Install the server.
Zip the server bits and ftp to my AIX server
Unzip the bits
Make the necessary modifications to the shell scrips
Setup all of the junk necessary to get Bluepages authentication
Start the server

It's a pain, but it's working.

Why don't you just download the Express-C zip file? Then you can extract
it on AIX and continue with the steps you've outlined.

Express-C says it only works with Derby ( I need to use DB2). I
assumed this meant that the bits were different and wouldn't work for
me. If they are truly the same, then that build be much easier.

I have it working on AIX, and have had it working for a long time. I simply remove the included Linux JDK and replace it with a symbolic link to my existing AIX JDK. After that it works great.

Are you using the Express-C bits with DB2?
