Work item restriction access doesn't seem to work

Milan Krivic (98013176143) | asked Jan 26 '11, 10:47 a.m.
Hi,

I tried to configure WI restriction, and it doesn't seem to work. I tried to access with user who is a member of a project area which has restricted access to particular work item, and got following message:

Insufficient permissions for operation

Your login did not have sufficient permissions for the operation.
Not authorized to access items in

Any suggestion?

Restricted access works for me.
I'd suggest verifying that the user really does have access to that
project area, and that the restricted-access property of the work item
is set to the new project area.

If both are true, then I'd suggest calling Rational support, because the
problem is not obvious.

Cheers,
Geoff

@Philippe,

I created Project Area "MembersB", and in the work item configuration, I restricted access to "MembersA" Project Area.
So, the team member from PA "MembersA" can't access to work item created in PA "MembersB". He gets following message:

Insufficient permissions for operation

Remember that a "restrict access" operation must be explicitly applied
to each work item that you want to have access-controlled by some other
project area. To make sure that everything is configured properly, I
suggest configuring your Work Items view (where results of work item
queries appear) to show the "restricted to" column (that's the easiest
way I've found to view the "restricted to" value for a work item).

Then for the particular work item being accessed, query for it so that
it appears in the work item view, and verify that the work item being
accessed is restricted to a project area to which that user has access.

Cheers,
Geoff
