BIRT Reporting and RTC 3.0

Hi,

RTC 3.0 on Windows XP SP2

BIRT 2.5.2
DTP 1.7.2
EMF 2.5.0

IN "Report Design" perspective I created a new report project and a new .rpt file inside it. When I right click on "Data Explorer -> Data Sets" I don't see "New Data Source" menu option and I see only "Paste" option. Am I missing anything here?

Thanks!

Hi Theju
See https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/ReportsCreatingANewReport30.
Method 1 (download, unzip and install):
# The following versions of BIRT and Data Tools are required for use
with RTC 3.0:

* BIRT 2.5.2
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/birt/downloads/drops/R-R1-2_5_2-201002221500/birt-report-framework-sdk-2_5_2.zip
* DTP 1.7.2
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/datatools/downloads/1.7/dtp_1.7.2.zip

# Rational Team Concert includes a subset of EMF, but the full
installation is required to use BIRT:

* EMF 2.5.0
http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/download.php?file=/modeling/emf/emf/downloads/drops/2.5.0/R200906151043/emf-xsd-SDK-2.5.0.zip

# The BIRT tooling now relies on WTP:

* WTP 3.1.2
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/webtools/downloads/drops/R3.1.2/R-3.1.2-20100211202452/wtp-sdk-R-3.1.2-20100211202452.zip

Method 2 ( Eclipse update):
To use the Eclipse updater, make sure you have the Galileo update site
(http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/) added to your Software
Updates, and look for:

* WTP: Web and Java EE Development > Web Developer Tools (3.1.2)
* EMF: Models and Model Development > EMF SDK - Eclipse Modeling
Framework SDK (2.5.0)
* DTP: Database Development > Data Tools Platform (1.7.2). Install
all of the Data Tools packages.
* BIRT: 2.5.2.

I used method #1 and it work perfectly. Glad to find a list of all the packages to download after many fruitless tries to use the software installation option.

I chose method #2 and the link http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo is NOT working.

Has anyone successfully installed BIRT in RTC 3.0? Can someone please give me a step-by-step instruction on how to install BIRT using the update option (From "Help > Install New Software" menu option).

Thanks!

This method is possible, but it is easier to control what versions of the components get selected and for that reason more reliable to use the method Sudhakar notes above from the wiki.

The steps are exactly the same for 3.0 and 3.0.1

After adopting Method1# when I try to open the report which I created through web I get the below error.

The following items have errors:

ReportDesign (id = 1):
+ Fail to load cube "null" from document. The document object does not exist.

From RTC Client if I try to open the report it just gives a blank white screen.

Can somebody help me in understanding how this error can be resolved?
