Start RFT scripts from RQM after new build is generated
Hi,
I'm new to Jazz and i didn't find nothing about this in the forum. Is it possible to generate a new build with build forge and start running RFT scripts that are part of a test plan in RQM ? If not using build forge to generate the scripts, can I send a message or command line or something similar to RQM so it starts the execution of a set of RFT scripts ? |

Hi David,
For the 1stquestion, kicking off RFT scripts from BF new build are not currently support by RQM. But if your purpose is only to kick off script running from new build, the good news is RTC build integration is supported by RQM. For the 2nd question, I'm actually a little confused. Can build forge generate scripts? Hi, |
Hi lidb, thanks for your answer. I typed the 2nd question wrong.
I meant: "If not using build forge to generate the BUILDs, can I send a message or command line or something similar to RQM so it starts the execution of a set of RFT scripts ?" |
Ideally this could be achieved via the RQM REST API. That way you could kick off the RFT script via the command-line using a tool such as the RQMUrlUtility. Currently this isn't supported, however the following enhancement request has been submitted. I recommend that you add comments to this request which express your needs.

I think You can create a Schedule based on Build Record. In the schedule you can add TestSuite and TestCases which are associated with relevant RFT Scripts. The schedule is based on 1. Time 2. Build Creation.
For Build Creation you can either integrate with RTC build where buld records will be generated automatically. another way is to manually create BuildRecord in RQM. This will also trigger schedule to be executed. I hope this helps |
Has there been any update on this request? We have a custom tool built in-house that was used to automate an entire test cycle from getting latest code, building the solutions and deploying servers and workstations then launching Rational Test Manager Test Suites on all of the machines.
This was very simple with RTM using the rtmanager command line and specifying the suites and remote machines to run them on. Since RTM does not support Win 7 or Win Server 2008 R2 we are unable to continue using it. We've unsucessfully tested the Test Manager Agent with RFT on both Win 7 and Win2k8 R2. It appears that IBM does not have plans to modify RTM for compatibility with the latest Windows platforms. If RQM is a **replacement** for RTM, as denoted on IBM's website, it would be quite helpful if it provided at least the same basic functionality as RTM, such as launching a Test Case or Suite on multiple remote machines, and providing a way to programatically launch the tests without manual intervention. |
