Associating Work Item categories to multiple team areas
Here is my setup:
Teams: Project Area - Team A - Team B Categories: root category <project> - parent category <project> - child category1 <inherited> - child category2 <inherited> When looking at the properties of Team A I can see in the "links" section that all the above mentioned work item categories are listed. However, Team B has an empty list for work item categories. This is preventing me from making plans as the "planned item" page fails to load with "no work item categories associated" error. (for Team B) Also I should note that Team A and Team B are associated to different timelines. This prevents me from creating an iteration plan associated with the project area itself with an error saying "The selected iteration doesn't belong to the selected timeline." There must be some way I can avoid re-creating my entire category tree for each team/timeline combination? |

You can assign a given category to a separate team area in each
timeline, so the suggested approach should do what you are requesting. Cheers, Geoff On 11/8/2010 9:53 AM, bakeley wrote: xdcx11wrote: |

In the category association panel you can select for what timeline to associate a team with the category for - rather than "all" timelines. Does this achieve what you want? I don't believe that will accomplish what I am looking for. I have two timelines, one team area per timeline. I need to be able to use the same categories for both. If I assign a timeline -> team area -> WI category association, won't that limt visibility of those categories to that timeline? Maybe my real question is "Is it possible to create a work item category that two timelines can utilize?" |
