Work Item Templates

Carlos Cavanna (111) | asked Sep 30 '10, 1:28 p.m.
Hi,

I'm using RTC and I would like to start using Work Item Templates.
I read the documentation here:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v2r0m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.team.workitem.doc/topics/t_creating_work_item_template.html

which provides very simple steps.
However, I don't get the "Create Work Item template" option when I right-click on the selected work items.

The administrator assigned me to the Project Area Administrator role, as required.

Is there anything else that I may be missing?

Thanks.

Hi,
In what context are you right-clicking on a work item? And which version of RTC?

I just opened a 2.0.0.2 client and the only place that I can find the template creation option is when I right-click on a work item in the Work Items view. The option is "New Work Item Template."

Step 2 in the help topic appears to be incorrect in suggesting that you can do that from anywhere in the UI. I'll make sure to test in 3.0 and fix that step accordingly. Step 3 has the wrong option name for 2.x, but the option has been renamed to "Create Work Item Template" in 3.0.

So I'd suggest opening the work item in the Work Items view, right-click and see if you get "New Work Item Template" as an option.

In the RTC-3.0, the "create work item template" is available as an
operation on a work item ... in RTC-2.0 you need to do what Karen
describes below.

Cheers,
Geoff
