Tomcat service pegged up

Hello, I am running RTC on a R&D server. I am using Derby as backend db. This is a very low traffic setup. But every now and then, the tomcat services are pegged up at 99% and stay there until I stop and start the services. Any suggestion on how I can troubleshoot this issue and if there is a known issue that I may have missed? TIA.
